The rising reliance of university students on education loans and credit facilities has raised concerns regarding the financial well-being of the younger generation. This study examines the influence of debt behaviour on students’ financial well-being, using data from 110 respondents selected through a two-stage sampling method (quota and convenience). Simple linear regression analysis was employed, with financial well-being as the dependent variable and debt behaviour as the independent variable. The results reveal a positive and significant effect of debt behaviour on financial well-being. These findings suggest that early awareness of debt implications enables students to manage financial commitments more prudently, despite facing education loans, personal borrowings, and buy-now-pay-later facilities. This study contributes to the literature on student financial management by providing new empirical evidence and recommends that policymakers and education loan providers enhance monitoring and financial literacy initiatives to prevent excessive debt that may undermine students’ financial well-being
