Abstract

Tujuan kajian adalah untuk mengkaji hubungan antara faktor-faktor gaya hidup terhadap prestasi akademik. Kajian ini dijalankan di Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor sebagai sebuah universiti swasta di Malaysia. Data dianalisis menggunakan Statistik Package for Social Science (SPSS) for windows versi 21.0. Statistik yang telah digunakan oleh penyelidik adalah analisis deskriptif dan korelasi pearson. Data-data yang diperolehi adalah melalui borang soal selidik yang diedarkan kepada 123 orang responden. Hasil dapatan kajian menunjukkan kesemua faktor tersebut berada pada tahap tinggi. Manakala hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara gaya pemakanan, aktiviti fizikal dan penglibatan aktiviti sosial dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa (p<0.05). Implikasi kajian menunjukkan bahawa kesemua faktor-faktor gaya hidup tersebut mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dan memberi kesan kepada peningkatan pelajaran mahasiswa di universiti swasta khususnya di KUIS.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the lifestyle factors towards academic achievement. This study was conducted at the Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS) as a private university in Malaysia. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) for windows version 21.0. The statistics used by the researchers are descriptive analysis and pearson correlation. The data was obtained through a questionnaire distributed to 123 respondents. The findings show that all of these lifestyle factors are at a high level. Whereas the correlation analysis showed there are significant relationship between eating style, physical activity and social activity involvement towards student academic achievement (p <0.05). The implications of the study indicated that all of these lifestyle factors have significant relationship and impact on the improvement of student academic in private universities especially in KUIS.
